Harvest Machans Beach is proud to be part of the Sustainable Salons Network
Green Salon Initiative
Let us introduce you to our world and show you that we are #notjustrecycling.
Our sustainable salon is an eco-friendly creative space that is ethically sound and offers organic products in recyclable, biodegradable or compostable packaging. We also choose to minimise plastic use in-salon by using tint bowls, tint brushes and clips made from recycled straws, bamboo brushes, metal tools and compostable coffee pods.
We are proud to be part of the Sustainable Salons network, consciously reducing our impact on the planet and investing in local communities.
WE PARTICIPATE IN THE FOLLOWING SUSTAINABLY-MINDED SOLUTIONS:
Paper Not Foil
Paper Not Foil is a revolutionary sustainable hair foil. Made from construction waste, it causes no harm to our environment and provides benefits to all users during its lifecycle. The average salon uses 1.5 km of aluminium foils per month. That's a lot of waste! Even foil that is "recycled" has limited reuse. Paper Not Foil can be re-used, is recyclable and photo-degradable.
Revolutionary recycling
A salon specific recycling service that diverts 95% of material into reuse, recycle and repurposing solutions.
Ponytails make wigs
Ponytails collected in our sustainable salon are donated to create medical wigs for those with leukemia and alopecia areata.
Metals make meals
Proceeds from the sale of salon metals (foils, cans, colour tubes) are donated to OzHarvest and KiwiHarvest.
Hair Booms
Hair collected from the salon floor is upcycled into Hair Booms which soak up oil spills on land and at sea.
